Education for disabled people: Schools may get screen readers
New Delhi, Aug 5: Educating disabled children could soon become a smooth affair as secondary schools are in the process of getting Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure and software, including screen readers and braille printers, to facilitate access to them.
The HRD Ministry has prepared a National policy on ICT in school education that aims at preparing youths to participate creatively in the establishment, sustenance and growth of a knowledge society. The policy envisages modernisation of school infrastructure with ICT facilities.
"We have prepared the draft policy on OCT. After consultations, the policy will be finalised and will be sent to Cabinet for approval," a source told PTI.
The draft policy says that use of ICT will have the objective to achieve the goals of inclusive education in schools.
